Wii Sports Deleted Mii Bug
Michael, Stephane and Steve started making ugly Miis so I jumped into the band-wagon and create a few weird-looking Miis of my own. We had friends over and used some of those weird Miis while playing Wii Sports, but I got tired and, as an effort to clean-up my Mii Channel, I deleted the ugly ones.
This morning, my son wanted to play Wii Sports with me. When we selected the two-players mode, Wii Sports froze just before displaying the screen where you are asked to choose which Miis you want to play with. I rebooted the console a few times to no avail: The game would freeze constantly at the same screen. I deleted the Wii Sports save-game and retarted the game. It solved the problem, but I lost all of my Wii Sports settings.
I have the feeling this bug is caused by deleting the Mii that was last used with Wii Sports.
Does anyone know of a way to report a bug to Nintendo? Anybody else ran into this problem? Is there a known work-around?

I had the same problem tonight. The same thing happened. I deleted on Mii and then my 2 player on my Wii Sports froze on me. I haven’t tried deleting my save games yet, but I will try that later today. This is the only site I could find with this bug, thank you for posting it ^_^
Ditto here. 2 player Wii sports freezes… can’t figure out why.
Well… once I decided to figure it out, it didn’t take long. It appears as though a corrupt save file for Wii Sports is the culprit. Go under Data Management for the Wii and deleting the save file will fix this (at least it did for me).
Happy Wii’ing!
Hi Tim. Thanks for confirming that the problem is solved by deleting the Wii Sports save game file. I’m not sure the file got corrupted; I’d rather think that there is a bug in the game when it tries to load previously used Mii and it can’t find it. Working in the software industry for many years now, this looks to me like this would be the cause of the problem.
Yeah, nice one, took me AGES to find out the problem (my girlfriend actually pointed it out to me
and your solution fixed it.
Cheers!
same problem. same situation!
glad i googled it before i threw out the wii sports disk.. i thought the disk got damaged.
but now i have to start all over again!
thanks for the solution though.
thank you very much for this thread. i also work in the software industry and this looks like a classic example of a bug/defect. i will try your solution immediately.
hmm haven’t heard of this problem. You can probably go to nintendo wii’s official site or check yahoo answers.
I had the same problem, so I thought let I remake the deleted mii (just the same name and birthday I did) maybe it can only with the exact same name.
now my wii sports chooses the 2 mii’s I choose before.
and you can play again with your save game
I am so good xD
greetz!
« I could give you our technical specs, as I’d know you’d like that, but I won’t for a simple reason: they really don’t matter. The time when horsepower alone made all the difference is over. »
My dad complaiend about the same thing! He doesn’t play many games, so I thought it was a user error… but now I have to give him the benefit of the doubt.
Thankyou so much my cousin was facing the same problem but now I got a solution for him.
i think that nintendo have some answer or solution for this problem.
sweet maby a nice explout can be made from that.
I tried wiisports, came with the system. Didn’t enjoy it all that much so I gave it away.
Thanks for the help! I was playing mine the other day when the same thing happened – and now I’ve got the answer! This is why I love the internet…
